Around 700 turtles were rescued consisting of eastern long-necked and short necked Macquarie species.

Some of the turtles have been released in nearby creeks, however there are still around 150 baby turtles which will need to be cared for by volunteers through the winter. The baby turtles would not survive the winter in a new environment and will be released in spring to ensure their survival.
