There is nothing more rewarding than seeing an animal return to the wild and knowing you helped it get there!

Joining Wildlife A.R.C. is a great way to meet new friends, help out the local community, and learn about some of our amazing wildlife.

Wildlife A.R.C. is always looking for new volunteers to help us with rescuing and caring for injured and orphaned wildlife.

We welcome any and all help.

We provide extensive support for our members such as regular training, newsletters, and meetings.

Wildlife A.R.C. members can take on a variety of roles; being rescuers or carers, manning our 24-hour hotline, helping with fundraising and publicity, or even just sewing pouches for orphaned babies.

Membership costs only $30 and our free Introductory Training is available online.

Junior memberships are also available for children under 18 to learn about wildlife under supervision.

Service Details

Our animal care is currently split into several sections as shown below.

If you would like to volunteer as a Rescuer or a Carer please select the sections you are interested in below.

Please note that you MUST complete both the compulsory Introductory Online Training course AND Wildlife A.R.C. Species-Specific Training BEFORE becoming a Rescuer or Carer.  To remain active as a Carer or Rescuer this training MUST be refreshed within a minimum of 3 years since the last training.  

Species-Specific Training Days are held regularly and will be advertised through our Events Calendar.  

As well as Rescuers and Carers we also need help for other vital roles:  

  • Hotline Operators man our 24-hour Hotline in 3-hour shifts by day, 12-hour by night.
  • Animal Couriers help transport animals (fully enclosed in boxes or cages) between Rescuers, Vets, and Carers,
  • Events Assistants help by attending fundraising events as well as raising awareness of our cause.
 
It would also be useful if we could know what geographical areas you'd be able to cover - for example, "All Central Coast", or specific suburbs, or within X minutes or Y kilometers of a specific suburb.

Conditions of Membership

  1. I understand and agree that I will act in accordance with the Constitution and Policies of Wildlife Animal Rescue and Care Society Inc. (otherwise referred to as Wildlife A.R.C.).
  2. I understand and agree that all my labour is voluntary and I will receive no remuneration.
  3. I understand and agree to be bound by the conditions of Rehabilitation License MWL000100280 issued by the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (NPWS) and to follow the Code of Practice for Injured, Sick and Orphaned Protected Fauna.
  4. I understand and agree that breaching the Wildlife A.R.C. Conditions of Membership may result in my expulsion or suspension from Wildlife A.R.C.
  5. I understand and agree that Wildlife A.R.C. reserves the right to refuse a new membership or the renewal of an existing member in accordance with the Wildlife A.R.C. Constitution.
  6. I understand and agree to care for wildlife entrusted to me to the best of my ability with the goal of returning them to the wild.
  7. I understand and agree to be guided by Wildlife A.R.C. Head Carers in every aspect of the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife entrusted to me, to inform those Head Carers of animals that are in my care, and - as per National Parks and Wildlife Services' requirements - will allow the relevant Head Carers to inspect my premises at a mutually agreed time if deemed necessary.
  8. I understand and agree to maintain accurate records about wildlife in my care and to update my records on a weekly basis.

By completing and sending this form I certify that I am over 18 years of age, that I agree to abide by the Conditions of Membership listed above, and declare all the information in this application is true and correct to the best of my knowledge.
 

Persons under the age of 18 are by law not permitted to rescue or care for native wildlife.

Junior Members of Wildlife A.R.C. can assist adult members with tasks such as cleaning and food preparation, can attend most Wildlife A.R.C. events, and are encouraged to learn about native wildlife. They are not, however, permitted to be responsible for the rescue or care of native wildlife and must be supervised by an adult member of Wildlife A.R.C. at all times.
